It's art. Really. One of Korea's sexiest sites was erected based on a legend of unrequited love. Haeshindang Park, nicknamed Penis Park has dozens of sculpted penises to pacify an angry female spirit. As the legend tells it, a fisherman left his maiden near Sinnan village, promising to return when he had completed his work. A fierce storm pounded the rocks where his maiden waited for him, and before he could reach her, she died in the storm. As a result, fishermen could catch no fish as part of the maiden's wrath. The villager's then carved a phallus to satisfy the spirit. The phallus apparently appeased the spirit, the legend says, because the villagers were able to catch fish soon after. Several other sculptures have since been added to Haeshindang Park.
Visit a Sexy Amusement Park
Speaking of art, Jeju Island's Loveland is stocked with over 140 pieces of erotic art and erotic paraphernalia, according to the Loveland Island web site. It's actually the first erotic theme part in South Korea, and definitely not an attraction for kids. The children can play in an area set aside for them while adults explore. Jeju Island is off of the coast of South Korea, near Busan. An hour-long flight can get a traveler from the mainland to the island.
Mud Festival in Boreong
Korea has its own version of mud wrestling, but it's not limited to sexy women. Men can get in the act too, rolling around and get dirty during the Mud Festival in Boryeong at Daecheon beach. Both genders get filthy while playing in the tub of mud, sliding on a three-story mud slide, or maneuvering through a mud obstacle course. There's a mock jail where prisoners are doused with mud. Mud massages are also available. More than a million people participate in the festival each year. What's all the fuss about? Each year, in July or August, the city of Boryeong celebrates its mineral-rich mud, that is used in the cosmetics industry.
Nude Bathhouse Bathing in South Korea
When it's time to relieve stress and relax, men and women of all shapes and sizes bathe nude in Korean bathhouses. Well, they are not exactly together. Nude bathing areas in bathhouses are not co-ed, but soaking in various hot and cold bath and getting massaged, or a rub down in a facility with dozens of nude strangers can be an interesting new experience. Bathhouses are located throughout South Korea, and admission is usually less than $10. Many bathhouses are open 24 hours.
